Roles in Margly#
Margly distinguishes three roles you'll meet in practice:
- Owner — has full access to everything. There is always at least one in the account (typically the one who registered Margly).
- Editor — a colleague with full access to data, cost import, and AI Advisor. Doesn't see Integrations, Billing, or team management.
- Guest — someone from another Margly company who got access to your account via Sharing access between accounts. Permissions similar to Editor, but without cost import and without setting management.

Why Editor can't change Integrations#
E-shop and ad platforms integration affects the entire dashboard — all margins, ROAS, spend, timezone, VAT rates. If Editor accidentally changed them (e.g., disconnected Shoptet, or switched the billing country), everyone on the team could see skewed numbers or Margly would stop loading data.
Editor therefore doesn't see the Integrations section in the menu at all — they can't accidentally open it. If they need to edit something (add a platform, change VAT), they ask the account owner.
When to use which role#
| Situation | Recommended role | How to set it |
|---|---|---|
| Marketing colleague who should make decisions based on data | Editor | Team invitation |
| Accountant who needs to download data and upload invoices | Editor | Team invitation |
| External consultant from a company that uses Margly itself | Guest | Sharing access between accounts |
| Accounting firm with its own Margly | Guest | Sharing access between accounts |
| Owner / co-owner with full control | Owner | We handle ownership transfer via support |
Changing the role of an existing member#
In the current UI user roles cannot be changed after the invitation. If you need to remove rights from an Editor, or conversely promote someone to Owner, proceed as follows:
- For deactivating a member: in Team click Deactivate next to the person. The account isn't deleted, just loses access. You can activate it again anytime.
- For role change or ownership transfer: write to support@margly.io — we'll handle it manually (we'll confirm authorization with you).
Activity history (audit log)#
Margly continuously logs sensitive actions, so you know who did what and when:
- Invitation, deactivation, or reactivation of a member
- Changes in e-shop / ad platform integration
- Changes to billing details, plan, VAT
- Sharing access between accounts
You'll find the records in the Team → Activity history section. The owner and editors see them. Sensitive details (e.g., billing details) are not shown in the log.
What's next#
- Inviting colleagues — procedure for inviting an Editor
- Sharing access between accounts — for partner companies and Guest role
- Plans and comparison — how many members and guests in which plan
