What action tasks are#
An action task is a concrete recommendation that you accepted to work on. Margly records the initial state of key metrics (where things stand now), starts a 30-day evaluation window, and every hour recomputes the current state so you can see whether the metric is moving in the right direction.
Tasks are created in two ways:
- From an AI Advisor response — under the recommended action you click "I want to work on this". After clicking you get the toast "Task accepted and being tracked.".
- From the dashboard (Growth Plan section) — on a recommendation card you click "Move to tasks". After clicking you get the toast "Task created — you'll find it in My Tasks".
In both cases Margly creates the task and marks the recommendation as "Moved to tasks" — it no longer offers it.
Task lifecycle — what happens when#
Margly serves up recommendations
After every data sync (the sync runs according to your tier — see Plans), Margly re-evaluates the situation and updates the recommendations on the dashboard and in the Advisor.
You accept the task
Click "I want to work on this" (from an Advisor response) or "Move to tasks" (from a Growth Plan dashboard card). Margly:
- Records the baseline measurement — values of key metrics at the date of acceptance (current margin, current ROAS, return-customer rate, etc.)
- Sets up a 30-day evaluation window — from today, the task has exactly one month to produce a result
- Creates success criteria — concrete rules used to evaluate whether it worked (e.g., "ROAS must rise at least to X" or "margin must return above Y %")
- Moves the recommendation to the My Tasks section (a tab inside the AI Advisor)
Margly tracks the task (every hour)
Every hour Margly recomputes the current measurement and the state of the target entity (campaign / product / segment / customer). In the task detail you see "before" (baseline) next to "now" (current state) — you continuously know whether things are going the right direction.
For most growth plan recommendations (14 of 16 detectors), Margly cannot detect on its own that you executed the action — because you do it outside the e-commerce platform (you sent an email, negotiated with the carrier, edited product copy). In that case the task detail has a "Mark as done" button — by clicking it you tell Margly you did the action, and optionally write a short note (max 500 characters). Only then can Margly give a meaningful verdict on the impact after the window ends.
For tasks that can be detected automatically (high cost share for a campaign → paused campaign in Google Ads / Meta; purchase-price drop → changed price in Shoptet / Shopify / Upgates), Margly doesn't need confirmation and takes the state from platform data.
Evaluation after the window ends
Once the evaluation window elapses, Margly closes the task and, on the Trial, Professional, Business, and Enterprise plans, generates an AI summary of the result (verdict: positive / neutral / negative + detail of what really happened with the metric + recommendation for next steps). On the Starter plan, the task closes without an AI summary — you only see the before / after numbers.
What happens if you delete a recommendation#
In the Growth Plan section (on the main dashboard) each card has a "Delete" button. Margly immediately removes the recommendation from the active list — you won't see it for a few more cycles.
A recommendation may return after 30 days, however, if Margly finds during the next recalculation that the conditions still hold (e.g., margin is still below threshold, the campaign is still losing money). It returns as a new active record — with current numbers, not the original ones. The original deleted record stays in the "Closed recommendations and tasks" section as an audit trail.
Deleted and moved (promoted) recommendations are visible in the "Closed recommendations and tasks" section at the end of the My Tasks tab. This section is read-only — it serves as a historical record of what Margly offered and what you did with it.
Limits per plan#
| Plan | Active tasks | AI evaluation after window ends |
|---|---|---|
| Starter | 3 | — |
| Professional | 10 | ✓ |
| Business | 20 | ✓ |
| Enterprise | unlimited | ✓ |
| Trial (14 days) | 20 (same as Business) | ✓ |
If you reach the limit, you can't add another task until you complete / close one. At that moment Margly displays one of two messages depending on where you are creating the task:
- From an AI Advisor response: "You have reached the maximum number of active tasks for your plan."
- From a Growth Plan dashboard card: "Active tasks limit reached (current/max). Complete a task or upgrade your plan."
Evaluation window#
Margly uses a single 30 days for all action tasks — whether they originated from an AI Advisor response or a Growth Plan card. A month is long enough for changes to show in your data (higher margin, better ROAS, returning customers) and at the same time short enough that the conclusion comes in time and you know what to do next.
The window is not set or changed by you — the length is fixed so the goal can't be "won" by adjusting it retroactively. 30 days after accepting a task, Margly automatically evaluates whether the success criteria were met.
How it looks in the UI#
In the My Tasks tab (inside the AI Advisor section — tab switcher at the top), you see three consecutive blocks below each other:
- Active tasks at the top — list of what is currently running. Each row shows the topic (margin / retention / products / shipping / ads), priority (high / medium / low), and a brief status. Clicking a row expands a detail with baseline measurements, current state, and success criteria.
- History (separated by a line) — closed tasks. On plans with AI evaluation, you see a verdict and summary for each one.
- Closed recommendations and tasks (at the bottom) — historical audit of deleted and moved recommendations from the Growth Plan. The section is purely read-only — it serves so you know what Margly offered in the past and what happened with it.
On the main dashboard, a small "My Tasks" widget also appears with a summary: number of active tasks, total estimated impact (in your store's currency), and an indicator (sparkles) of whether something is ready to be evaluated. Clicking the widget switches you to the My Tasks tab. The widget doesn't show if you have no active tasks.
FAQ#
Margly doesn't see that I completed my task#
Margly evaluates metrics, not the fact that you clicked in Shoptet / Shopify / Upgates. If you changed the price but the platform hasn't transferred it to us yet, Margly doesn't know about it. Wait for the next data sync (Starter 1×/day morning, Professional 2×/day morning + evening, Business / Enterprise / Trial 4×/day).
For tasks that by their nature can't be auto-detected (e.g., send a newsletter, agreement with a carrier), Margly offers in the task detail a "Mark as done" button — by clicking it you tell Margly you did the action, and Margly asks you for an optional short note.
My task closed with a negative result even though I did the work#
- The market may have changed conditions (competitors lowered prices, seasonal swing). Margly only sees numbers, not context.
- The success criteria may have been set ambitiously — impact estimates are conservative but still estimates.
- On Pro+ plans, read the AI summary of the result — the Advisor often describes what detail the data shows.
Can I manually restore a deleted recommendation?#
No, manually it can't be done. The deleted card stays in the "Closed recommendations and tasks" section as a read-only audit. But Margly can offer it again 30 days after deletion — if conditions still hold, it comes back as a new recommendation with current numbers (not the original ones).
The 30-day cooldown is there so Margly doesn't bombard you with the same thing repeatedly when you for some reason don't want to deal with it now.
