What Margly shows from Ecomail#
Ecomail is an email marketing platform — you use it to send newsletters, automations and transactional emails. Margly reads its performance, not its content:
- Email marketing revenue and how many orders your emails brought in
- Email's share of total shop revenue — a number you won't see in Ecomail, because Ecomail doesn't know your total revenue
- Average order from email compared with your whole shop's average
- Deliverability and sender reputation — spam complaints, undelivered emails, sending-domain verification status
- Performance of individual campaigns and automations, including revenue per email sent
- Contact database health — how many contacts you gained, how many unsubscribed and how many became undeliverable
How to connect#
Ecomail doesn't use OAuth. You copy an API key from the Ecomail admin and paste it into Margly.
Sign in to Ecomail
Open ecomail.app and sign in with an account that has access to your email marketing.
Copy the API key
Click your account name in the top right and choose Manage your account. In the left menu select For developers and click Copy API Key.
Paste the key into Margly
In Margly go to Settings → Integrations, open the Ecomail tile and paste the key into the API key field.
Pick your account currency
Ecomail doesn't send a currency with its data — it keeps it as an account-wide setting. Pick the one configured in Ecomail (Manage your account → Localization). Margly uses it to convert revenue into your shop's currency.
Click Connect Ecomail
Margly verifies the key and immediately starts fetching data in the background. The first sync pulls your entire campaign history, not just the last year.
Where to find the data#
Once connected it appears under Advertising → Ecomail. The section follows the order an email specialist reads numbers in: first what it earned, then deliverability and reputation, then campaigns, automations and finally database health.
Ecomail also feeds into:
- AI Advisor — email marketing enters the analysis
- Data chat — ask things like "how much did email marketing earn last month" or "which campaign had the highest revenue"
- Growth plan on the Overview — Margly flags an unverified domain, high spam complaints, undeliverable addresses or a shrinking database
How Ecomail counts revenue#
This is the most important thing to understand. Ecomail credits an order to the last campaign the customer opened or clicked — if they buy within 10 days of an open or within 30 days of a click. You can change these windows in Ecomail under Settings → Global variables.
Numbers for freshly sent campaigns are still maturing — Margly labels them and fills them in over the following days.
The Marketer+ plan and revenue tracking#
Ecomail measures email revenue only from the Marketer+ plan up. On lower plans conversions stay at zero even when your campaigns are delivered perfectly. Margly detects this (clicks exist, conversions don't) and says the plan doesn't measure revenue instead of showing "0".
What to watch out for#
SMS is counted separately. Ecomail also sends SMS through the same campaigns. SMS has no opens or clicks by its nature, so it would drag down your email open rate. Margly therefore keeps it in a separate SMS and WhatsApp block — it stays out of every email rate, but the revenue it brings is counted normally. The same applies to an automation that sends only SMS. An automation mixing email and SMS cannot be split (Ecomail reports one total for the whole automation) — it stays among the email ones and its row carries a "contains SMS" tag.
An unverified sending domain. Until verification (SPF/DKIM) passes in Ecomail, emails from that domain can't prove their origin and mail servers push them to spam — even when your campaign sends without an error. Margly monitors domain status and warns you.
Spam complaints. Google requires a rate below 0.3 % and recommends below 0.1 %. Above the limit Gmail and Yahoo start pushing your emails to spam, order confirmations included.
Open rate is inflated. Since 2021 Apple Mail pre-loads opens, so the number is higher for every sender. Read it as a trend, not an exact value. Clicks per open is more reliable — Apple distorts it the least.
Automations are measured incrementally. Ecomail only reports an automation's lifetime total, with no daily breakdown. Margly therefore measures the difference between two syncs — automation numbers are "what was added in the selected period", counted from the day you connected. History before connecting can't be reconstructed.
Transactional emails use a fixed window. Ecomail provides them only for the last 6 months, so that block doesn't follow the period selected above. Margly keeps it separate for that reason.
What Margly does NOT read from Ecomail#
Margly reads aggregate statistics only. We don't call the endpoints that return individual subscribers — not a single email address from your database or any contact list ever reaches Margly. We only see counts (how many contacts are subscribed, unsubscribed, undeliverable).
Margly also never creates, edits or sends your campaigns and automations. The connection is read-only.
Disconnecting#
Go to Settings → Integrations → Ecomail and click Disconnect. Margly deletes all data fetched from Ecomail. Your Ecomail account and campaigns are unaffected.
