What Margly shows from SmartEmailing#
SmartEmailing is an email marketing platform — you send newsletters, automations and transactional emails through it. Margly reads its performance, not content:
- Email revenue with a split into direct and assisted orders
- Email's share of total shop revenue — a number SmartEmailing can't show you, because it doesn't know your total revenue
- Real open rates — SmartEmailing measures opens by real people separately from Apple Mail prefetching, so Margly shows a clean number
- Performance of individual campaigns and automations, including earnings per delivered email
- Deliverability — spam complaints, bounces with reasons, unsubscribes with reasons
- Contact-list health — how many contacts came and left, and how much of your sending goes to long-inactive recipients
- Transactional and confirmation emails separately — they open completely differently, so they don't distort campaign numbers
How to connect#
You'll need two things — and the form asks for them in exactly this order:
- Account login email — the email you sign in to SmartEmailing with. Not any email and not a name; exactly the login one.
- API key — in SmartEmailing open Settings → Data sources → API keys and create a new key.
Then in Margly open Settings → Integrations → SmartEmailing, fill in both fields and confirm. Margly verifies the credentials immediately — if the email or key doesn't match, you'll know right away and nothing is saved.
After connecting, recent data arrives within minutes. Campaign history is fetched month by month in the background — the freshest numbers show up immediately, older campaigns keep arriving.
Where to find the data#
- Advertising → SmartEmailing — revenue, deliverability, campaigns, automations, contacts
- AI Advisor — email marketing enters analyses and recommendations
- Ask Margly (data chat) — "How much did email earn last month?"
- Overview → Growth Plan — alerts for spam, bounces, shrinking lists, underused automations or campaigns without UTM
How SmartEmailing counts revenue#
An order is always credited to the last delivered email before the purchase:
- Direct order — the customer buys within 24 hours of clicking a link in the email
- Assisted order — a purchase within 5 days of a click, or within 24 hours of an open
It's a slice of revenue you already have in Margly — that's why email revenue is never added on top of shop revenue; it shows what part of it came thanks to emails.
Where the orders come from#
SmartEmailing learns about orders from your shop — it has a ready-made integration for Shoptet and WooCommerce, among others. It has none for Shopify or Upgates; until you send orders some other way, revenue in Margly will be zero.
Things to keep in mind#
- A campaign that is still sending carries a "Sending" badge — don't judge it until it finishes.
- Campaigns without UTM tags carry a "No UTM" badge — you won't see their visits in Google Analytics. SmartEmailing can add UTM automatically in campaign settings.
- Contact numbers are measured from the day you connect. Older periods have no contact data — the section says so instead of showing zeroes.
- Revenue per contact counts contacts across all lists — a contact on several lists counts more than once, so the real per-contact value is likely higher.
What Margly does NOT read from SmartEmailing#
No email addresses, no contact lists, no email content. We read aggregate statistics only. Margly also never sends or edits anything — we don't touch your campaigns.
Disconnecting#
In Settings → Integrations → SmartEmailing click Disconnect. Margly deletes all downloaded SmartEmailing data; campaigns and contacts in SmartEmailing itself remain untouched.
